Lucas, Luigi, Lucien and Ludwig are four inseparable friends. Their odyssey begins at the end of World War I, when they are accidentally left behind during the evacuation of the orphanage they live in. Their group grows a little more when they meet Luce and together they start an adventurous trip to Switzerland. They will discover that supposed enemies can turn out to be formidable allies, such as the German deserter with a heart of gold, the famous “village witch”, the grumpy cobbler and the Senegalese sniper who becomes their friend.

Why we like it: The film is a wonderful historical adventure for the whole family that is not just another lesson in the horrors of war, but also a story of friendship, wandering and, ultimately, coming of age.
