Teenager Olga from Ukraine lives in exile in Switzerland. Even though she’s a disciplined, high-level gymnast, she struggles to adjust to her new country and find her place in the sports center where she trains, as her mind constantly drifts back to her homeland. Her teammates look down on her, and she has to prepare for the championship just as the Euromaidan popular uprising erupts in Kyiv, threatening to swallow her dearest loved ones. A gripping, human story about the clash between personal ambition and duty to one’s country, set against the historical events in Ukraine in 2013, but which gains renewed significance and symbolism today, starring real athlete Anastasia Bundyaskina, whose story reflects not just the struggles of a girl who simply wants to belong, but the entire struggle of a people.
The movie will be available for free viewing only digitally at www.athicff.com on Thursday, November 17 for a limited number of screenings.
