The Athens International Children’s Film Festival presents “Action!forAutism”, an initiative aimed at promoting the meaningful inclusion of people on the autism spectrum in the cultural sector, with a focus on empowerment and equal opportunities in the film industry. As part of the initiative, neurotypical professional actors will work alongside autistic colleagues as equal partners in dubbing, helping pave the way for the inclusion of autistic professionals in the dubbing industry.
The programme also includes the accessible workshop “And Suddenly Everyone Speaks Greek…”, where children will have the opportunity to dub scenes from their favourite films, led by Alexandros Siatras and Aria Papanikolaou.
In collaboration with accessibility specialists the happy act and liminal, and with the support of NEVRONAS, the Festival will host screenings in sensory-friendly conditions, with lower sound levels, reduced lighting, and freedom of movement, at Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, Danaos, Village Cinemas Renti and Kifissia 1 & 2 Cinemax.
