For another year, the Festival is collaborating with the Hellenic Film Academy, presenting two short films this year: Mitsi by Gevi Dimitrakopoulou and 400 Cassettes by Thelgia Petraki.

The screenings will be followed by a discussion inspired by the films’ themes, focusing on coming of age as a process of change – physical, emotional, and social. The films raise questions about adolescence and identity, as well as the ways in which young people navigate the search for themselves and shape the person they are becoming.

MITCH

Gevi Dimitrakopoulou, Greece, 26’, 2026, Greek with English subtitles

Mitsi, a 13-year-old tomboy, after receiving a traditional slap upon getting her period for the first time, gains magical abilities and turns the action of the slap into her own personal reaction.

400 Cassettes

Thelyia Petraki, 14’, Greece, 2024, Greek with English subtitles

After a lesson about cosmic archaeologists and a water fight in the schoolyard, Elly steals Faye’s soul, and Faye gives Elly a rare birthday present. But then, under a sky full of stars, a song from the past reminds the girls that nothing really lasts forever.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and the dramaturg Tzortzina Kakoudaki
