The Children of Silver Street

Eleven-year-old Katinka lives alone with her three siblings, Tristan (15), Kirk (9), and Petra (6), and their parrot, Captain Good Mood, in an apartment on Silver Street. Here, they can decide for themselves when to go to bed, whether to brush their teeth, and no one tells them they have to do homework.  This has been the case since their mother’s mysterious disappearance a year ago. But when their constantly absent parents make the headmaster, Mr. Moth, suspicious, the four siblings hatch a clever plan to avoid being discovered and sent to an orphanage: They hire a housekeeper. When they choose the colorful Miss Nelly from Vollsmose—a male housekeeper in a skirt and high heels—the plan changes completely.
